Vista Academy offers a distinctly different learning environment to parents and students seeking a traditional core education with special attention paid to personalized learning and character building. We believe parents and the community should be involved in this learning process, which is both rigorous and stimulating, typically conducted in smaller classes and framed within a civic context.
Tiffany Trout, our Director, holds a bachelor’s of science in elementary education and has taught fourteen years. Ms. Trout began teaching in 1999 and has taught at elementary, junior high, and high school levels and has three years of administrative experience. Ms. Trout is looking forward to encouraging students and staff in their success!
Justin Banks, our Assistant Director, has been with Vista Academy of Pasadena since it began, before he joined us he worked safety. Mr. Banks received a bachelor’s of science in fitness and human performance. He believes that education is a foundation for a successful life and can’t wait to help the campus grow to its full potential.
Dana Ampaw, a Kindergarten teacher, is from North Carolina. She is bilingual and has taught in several school districts before joining us. She first earned her bachelor’s degree in special education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Ms. Ampaw then earned her master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in 2011 from Grand Canyon University.
Amy Garza, a Kindergarten teacher, is from Kingsville, Texas. She earned a bachelor’s of science in interdisciplinary studies in 2009 from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Ms. Garza’s favorite subject is math. She enjoys spending time with her family barbequing and going to the beach.
Ann Harry, a Kindergarten teacher, is from South America. She was a former teacher’s assistant and early childhood education teacher. She earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Houston in 2003. She is excited about partnering with her students’ families in helping them be successful and learn all that they can.
Stephanie Priestley, a Kindergarten teacher, is from Pasadena. She previously taught one year as a first grade teacher and four years as a kindergarten teacher before joining us. Ms. Priestly earned her bachelor’s degree in education early childhood through 6th grade education from the University of Houston – Clear Lake. Each year, she is eager to see how her students will grow academically.
Ana V. Rosa-Cortes, a 1st grade teacher, is from Puerto Rico. Ms. Rosa-Cortez is bilingual and worked as a 3rd grade bilingual teacher in Houston ISD before coming to Vista Academy of Pasadena. She earned her bachelor’s degree in office administration before deciding to become a teacher. Her favorite subject is math, and she can’t wait to share her passion for it with her students.
Brittney Rost, a 1st grade teacher, is from La Porte, Texas. Ms. Rost earned her degree in sociology before realizing her passion for teaching. She looks at her role as a hand to help students towards a successful future. Her favorite quote is “if dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.”
Dalia Sanchez, a 1st grade teacher, is from Houston. She earned a bachelor’s of science in education in 2012 from the University of Houston – Clear Lake. Ms. Sanchez’s favorite subject is reading and in her spare time one would more than likely find her with a good book.
Karin Zimmerman, a 1st grade teacher, is from La Porte, Texas. She earned a bachelor’s of science in interdisciplinary studies early childhood through 6th grade from University of Houston – Clear Lake. Ms. Zimmerman looks forward to helping her students to recognize what kind of a learner they are.
Norma Howard, a 2nd grade teacher, is from Pasadena. Ms. Howard is bilingual and earned her degree in interdisciplinary studies from University of Houston- Clear Lake. She loves to read and travel to small quaint towns.
Ashely Ingram, a 2nd grade teacher, is from League City, Texas. Ms. Ingram joined Vista Academy of Pasadena in 2014. She received her bachelor’s degree in fitness and human performance from the University of Houston – Clear Lake in 2013. She believes that the best part of her job is helping students find the joy in learning.
Marenie Chapman, a 2nd grade teacher, is from Houston. Ms. Chapman has been at Vista Academy of Pasadena since it began in 2012. She earned her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Texas A&M University in College Station. She is excited to teach her students the academic curriculum, character and responsibility. Ms. Chapman’s favorite subject is history.
Courtney Sparks, a 2nd grade teacher, is from Ballinger, Texas. She worked in a public school before joining Vista Academy of Pasadena. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education early childhood through 6th grade from West Texas A&M. Ms. Sparks, favorite book series is the Harry Potter series and loves to spend time with her husband and dogs.
Patricia Adeniran, a 3rd grade English Language Arts teacher, is from San Antonio. She has 28 years of teaching experience. She has a bachelor’s of science in elementary education and a master’s of education in counseling and guidance. Ms. Adeniran enjoys playing the piano, and singing, as well as traveling.
Kayla Brown, a 3rd grade teacher, is from Houston. She previously taught 4th and 5th grade for a private school before joining us. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education early childhood through 4th grade in 2009 from University of Houston-Clear Lake. She is looking forward to teaching students math in a fun and exciting way.
Heather Plante, a 4th grade teacher, is from Houston. She has worked at Vista Academy of Pasadena for two years. Before joining our staff she taught second grade in Houston ISD. Ms. Plante has a master’s in education for early childhood through 6th grade. Her favorite quote comes from Dr. Seuss “You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax all you need is a book.”
Mary Iweanya, a 5th grade teacher, is from Nigeria. She has 15 years of experience in education. Ms. Iweanya earned a master’s of arts in teaching from Grand Canyon University. She enjoys seeing her students grow and learn throughout the year. In her spare time Ms. Iweanya loves to read, her favorite book is anything written by William Shakespeare.
Joanie Ingram, our campus music teacher, is from Indiana. She has experience as a private music teacher, substitute teacher, as well as a personal care attendant. Ms. Ingram teaches students not only how to read music, but also the importance of learning how to write it. She enjoys seeing students learn music and seeing them truly understand that music is a passion.
Jo Perez, our campus art teacher, is from Corpus Christi. Before joining us, she taught at St. Mary’s Catholic School in League City for 13 years and Montessori School of Downtown for two years. Ms. Perez received her degree from Del Mar College in 1981.
